The Amity Weekly Minute: October 13, 2024
What's New
From the Desk of Mrs. Warman
It’s hard to believe that we are already at the end of the first quarter! Time has flown by, and we are incredibly proud of the hard work all of our students have put in to tackle new tasks and concepts. Their determination and growth are evident, and we are excited to see what the rest of the year holds. Please note that report cards will be sent home on Friday, October 18th.
This week, I had the opportunity to visit Mrs. Gummel’s class. Her Wednesday group is focusing on thinking critically, creatively, and working together as a team. The sixth graders were challenged with an escape room designed just for them by our 2nd-4th graders. They navigated through four uniquely themed rooms: classroom, winter, ocean, and technology, solving riddles, completing a geography crossword, and even playing chess to unlock the final treasure.
Afterwards, the younger students reflected on their experience, sharing what they learned. One student proudly mentioned, “I can stay focused for a long time,” while another humorously remarked, “Sixth graders don’t appreciate my humor.”
We are excited to continue fostering these collaborative and innovative experiences for our students. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday!
Warm regards,Laura Warman

Varsity Tutors Information
We want to remind you that all students in grades K-12 have free access to Varsity Tutors, a fantastic online platform offering 24/7 academic support, live group classes, essay review, and more. Through this partnership, your child can connect with expert tutors whenever they need help!
To make things easier, we’ve included a quick video tutorial explaining how your child can access the Chat with a Tutor feature. This feature allows students to ask questions and get immediate assistance in a subject they’re struggling with — all available through their district Clever accounts.
Watch the Video
In addition to the Chat with a Tutor feature, we also want to reshare that students have access to free SAT and ACT test prep courses through this platform. This is a unique opportunity for our students to prepare for college entrance exams with expert guidance, helping them gain confidence and improve their readiness for their next academic step.
We encourage you to take advantage of this valuable resource, available to all students through June 30, 2030.
